Melissa Wingo is a Board Certified Physician Assistant recognized by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the state of Illinois. She joined Bastian Voice Institute in 2017. Melissa completed her undergraduate training at Millikin University, achieving a Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music, and has sung with various vocal groups and bands throughout the Chicagoland area ever since. She learned of the physician assistant profession after college, and found that the thought of working alongside a team of doctors to diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients was very appealing to her and a good next step in her career. She ultimately earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Practice from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Her unique background in music and medicine has prepared her for a career in laryngology, and she understands the needs of professional voice users and the problems they may face in their careers. She appreciates Dr. Bastian’s diagnostic model he has developed for various voice, swallowing, and airway disorders, and finds that using the ear to listen to vocal and airway capabilities is so important for an accurate diagnosis. Melissa enjoys working alongside Dr. Bastian and Dr. Richardson to bring the highest quality of care to our patients.
Melissa is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Illinois Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Physician Assistants in Otorhinolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery. She attends conferences regularly to remain on the cutting edge of treatments available in this field.
